"Go For Fit!" LOURDES – YMCA Healthy Lifestyles Weight Management Program

Go for Fit! is a 12-week healthy weight management program open to Teens (age 16 and older) and adults. You do not need to be a Y member to enroll. Participants meet on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. Program starts September 20 for successive Tuesday evenings until December 6.

Classes sessions are at the Burlington Riverfront YMCA, 302 Commerce Square Boulevard, Burlington, NJ 08016. (Participants in Go for Fit! may also use the Mount Laurel YMCA as needed during the 12-week program.

What to expect:

Week 1 – Three-hour session. Getting started: self-assessment and self care. Includes readiness to change, gentle detox tips and overall dietary recommendations.

Week 2 – Goal setting/intentions including affirmations and journaling.

Week 3 – One-hour small group fitness class/stability ball training.

Week 4 – An anti-inflammation diet and lifestyle: A healthy way to eat and lose. Use of pyramid and recipes included.

Week 5 – Managing stress triggers.

Week 6 – Kitchen makeovers.

Week 7 – One-hour small group fitness class/resistance tubing training & free weights.

Week 8 – Eating out and on the run.

Week 9 – Emotional eating.

Week 10 – Evidence-based holistic support strategies.

Week 11 – Self-image/self talk and staying positive.

Week 12 – Two-hour session: Lifestyle maintenance: recap, re-assess and move on.

In addition, three half-hour personal training sessions are included and scheduled at the participant's convenience.

Program Cost : $395 for YMCA full program members: $445 for non-members.


Instructors:

Kathryn Friedman
Kathryn is the Director of Integrative Health Care/Community Wellness and a Certified Holistic Health Counselor at Lourdes Wellness Center in Collingswood, NJ. She received her BS in Health Planning and Administration from Penn State, BS in Food and Nutrition from Immaculata College and Holistic Health Counseling Certification from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She is currently working towards a certification in Wellness Coaching.

Christine Kong
Christine has been a certified personal trainer with ISSA since 2009. She is also CPR and AED certified with the American Red Cross. She is currently working on a certificate in Sports Nutrition and Fitness Therapy. She is passionate about fitness and strives hard to help her clients meet their personal goals.

Laurel Allen
Laurel is the Wellness Director at the Riverfront YMCA and has been a certified personal trainer since 1998 through AFAA the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America®. She is certified to teach Zumba®, BodyPump®, Pilates, Kickboxing, Spinning® and Aqua Aerobics.
